| Profile |
Taihei Doma (土間タイヘイ Doma Taihei?) is the deuteragonist of the Himouto! Umaru-chan series and the main protagonist of Himouto! Umaru-Chan: Himouto Ikusei Keikaku visual novel game. He is the older brother of Umaru Doma who works at a company.
Appearance[]
Taihei's design in the anime.
Taihei is a young man of average build, appearing fairly slim with pale skin. He has shaggy, straight black brown hair with a noticeably sharp, pointed strand ahoge at the top of his head. His eyes are colored brown, just like his sister, Umaru Doma.
Taihei is most often seen wearing his work uniform which consists of a black suit with a blue striped tie, a white undershirt, black shoes, and his usual glasses.
Taihei can also seen wearing a variety of outfits common to young men such as himself like jeans, button-up shirts, t-shirts, etc. He also occasionally wears a blue apron when cooking.
Personality[]
Taihei is a kind and hard-working person who loves to cook since kid. He is well known for being a pushover and excessively tolerant of other people slacking off, such as Umaru or his co-worker, Takeshi Motoba (Bomba).
While polite and well balanced, Taihei is described as a bit of a doormat, as his younger sister constantly relies on him, making him cook, clean, buy, and do whatever she tells him to. Though Umaru may be unbearable at times, Taihei appears to deeply care for his sister and worries about her future as an independent person, admitting that he has spoiled her for too long. Although Taihei does internally express anger towards Umaru during her more unbearable moments, he often calms down and tries to take a friendlier approach to winning her happiness back, which he always succeeds in doing.
Taihei often gullible and is easily duped into doing whatever Umaru tells him to, especially in the presence of peer pressure, which he is extremely sensitive to. In one instance, she made him miss work so he could help her win a Necolumbus, covering up her motive by convincing him to use that time as a form of relaxation when in actuality, she tricked him into helping her and improve her odds of winning.[6]
Taihei is also a cat lover, which possessed by his mother.[7] Most of his clothes has cat pattern on it. He often give a cheer or blushing reaction everytime he saw them, also following whatever the cat goes.[8][9][10] He even once dreamt of having lot cats in his apartement and is petting them, which few hours later Umaru joins his dream and petting the cats together.[11]
Even though he seems very sensitive to other people's feelings, he also has shown to be especially oblivious to others' love interests, such as when he does not realize both Kanau Kongo and Nana Ebina have feelings for him. This is because Taihei is more prioritizing his own family (Umaru and their mother) than everything.
At times, Taihei seems to have trouble with remembering certain things in his past, a result of a possible long-term memory deficiency. Umaru seems to take the place in his mind of the people he has forgotten, such as a memory of him ongoing home with their mother,[9] or when he teach about stars to Hikari Kongo.[12]
Background[]
Taihei was only seen lived with his mother ever since he was kid, without any appearance of his father. He started wearing glasses when he was in the early grades of elementary school. He rather choose reading book, mostly recipe book, than playing with another child. He once waiting at at the shrine for his mother came after go somewhere and pick him up, than waiting her at home.[13]

He getting perfect scores all the times, made him known as Taihei the Demon by his classmates and teachers.[14] He also excellent at cooking, playing table tennis[15] and arcade.[10] From here, he acquainted with Bomba[15] and Kanau.[16]
Taihei is seems only living in a luxury apartement with Umaru, without any clue their mother was there too.[10] They possibly had same situation like Kanau and Hikari, that their living place were seperated from their parents who busy on their own.
Five years later, after graduation, Taihei decided to work at Diamond Service.[9] His reason are the company has flexible time, and the new workers can join the current meeting.[17] It seems that Taihei has been moved to Corpo Yoshida Apartement since for at least a year, as he noted that Umaru (also Nana)[6] had moved in with him about a year ago.[8]
